About Momentum Center for the Arts Momentum Center for the Arts has a
history of 40 years of quality dance instruction for children.
Previous owner Bonnie McGowan taught dance in the area for 2 generations
and was teaching the children of previous students before she retired in
2001. In 2002, Beth Weegar and Ian Rudick bought the studio when
it was set to close because Bonnie was retiring and her son Michael had taken a
job in NYC. Their purpose has been to continue the tradition of
high quality instruction for children and offer a variety of other arts related
activities to the community. Momentum offers classes in ballet,
modern, tap, jazz, hip hop and creative movement for children ages
3-18.
Parent and Morgantown art teacher Nancy Maunz has spearheaded and organized
the Green Room Gallery at Momentum. The small gallery
exhibits an artist of the month at the studio. Students, parents
and the public are exposed to a wide variety of local artists’ work.
Usually the works are for sale. Sometimes the artist also
provides a workshop related to their art form which is open to the
public.
Momentum has sponsored several concerts during the past 3 years.
Artists have included: Accoustic Eidelon, a husband
and wife duo who play a doublenecked guitjo (combination guitar and banjo) and
cello; Khac Chi , another husband and wife duo originally from Vietnam
who played a wide variety of traditional Vietnamese instruments and music; blues
guitarist and singer Scott Ainslee; and Oisre, a trio of artists
performing Irish music.
Adult classes in Yoga are regularly
scheduled. Call for the current schedule.
You can call us at 623-0620. Momentum is located in
